ABOUT THE ARTIST

In a world of crumbling governments, fractured relationships, and shifting identities, how do we find order? Can the turbulence, anxiety, and unrest of today's world pave the way for a new sense of clarity and vision? My work delves into these questions, exploring how artists make sense of time, space, and society when everything around them feels unstable.

Throughout my creative process, I constantly adapt. I move between brushes, palette knives, and even torn cardboard to apply paint, reflecting the changes and emotions I experience. I take breaks to absorb life, learn new techniques, or process profound emotions—moments that inevitably find their way back onto my canvas. For me, art is not just a product but a dialogue between chaos and clarity, discomfort and comfort.

Right now, my work aims to embrace the chaos, confronting life’s challenges head-on to uncover order through the act of creation. I ask myself and my audience: How do we find order in governments, relationships, and even our identities? How can the process of creating art offer a new perspective and a deeper understanding of our place in the world?

My art is my way of sharing my human experience. It captures how I navigate time, the challenges I face as a Black man, and the emotions that shape my journey. I want my audience to feel the weight, the joy, the struggle, and the hope of my life through each piece. My work is a testament to finding clarity and connection in the midst of chaos.

My art is rooted in community, growth, and preservation, focusing on sustainability and creating platforms for artists to showcase their work. I strive to connect creatives with the greater Seattle art scene while fostering networks that bring people together.

Growing up in Washington, D.C., I was encouraged by my community to pursue my dreams as an artist, despite the challenges of being a person of color from a low-income neighborhood. That environment, rich in music, education, and culture, instilled in me the importance of participation and unity—values that continue to shape my work.

A recurring theme in my art is Grupa, a face archetype symbolizing growth and collective success. This reflects my commitment to uplifting communities of color and preserving their cultures. By promoting underrepresented artists and musicians, I aim to inspire others to pursue their dreams while building networks that sustain creativity.

Through initiatives like donating supplies to local artists and mentoring peers, I give back to the communities that have supported me, including spaces like Addison on Fourth and the OK Hotel. My work celebrates self-reflection, community, and the connections that help us thrive together.
