ABOUT THE ARTIST
Vinaya Rao is a Seattle-based artist whose journey through the world of art
spans over 15 years, marked by vibrant creativity, evocative storytelling, and
a profound love for color. A self-proclaimed color theorist, Vinaya's work is
characterized by its vivid palettes and expressive forms, drawing viewers
into immersive experiences that echo the beauty and emotion of life.
Inspired by nature, memories, and the kaleidoscope of human emotions,
Vinaya weaves her experiences into her art. Travel, in particular, plays a
pivotal role in her creative process. Whether it's the generosity of strangers,
the rich tapestry of cultures, or the nuances of traditions and emotions
encountered along the way, these moments find their way into her canvas,
creating pieces that resonate on a deeply personal and universal level.
Vinaya’s passion for her craft is matched only by her joy in sharing it with
others. From intimate solo exhibitions to prestigious juried art shows, her
work has been showcased widely, both locally and internationally.
Highlights of her artistic journey include juried exhibits at the Boomer
Gallery in London, the Center on Contemporary Art in Seattle, Mojarto art
gallery in India and multiple showings at the Kirkland Arts Center. Her art
has also graced venues like West Elm, Vovito, and various charity auctions,
bringing beauty and meaning to diverse spaces and causes.
Each of Vinaya’s creations is a story in itself—a vibrant reflection of her
adventures, inspirations, and unrelenting joy in the artistic journey. For
Vinaya, art is more than a medium; it’s a celebration of life, and she invites
you to join her in discovering its many hues.
"As an abstract artist, my work explores the relationship between color,
form, and movement. My process is intuitive and experimental, as I strive to
create a visual language that speaks to the viewer on a visceral level.
I am interested in the ways in which color and form can evoke emotion and
create a sense of movement within the composition. My goal is to create a
sense of depth and movement, and to challenge the viewer's perception of
space and form.
I strive to create a sense of harmony and balance within my work, as well as
to evoke a sense of mystery and intrigue. I believe that abstract art has the
power to transcend language and cultural boundaries, and to connect
people on a fundamental level.
In short, my art is an exploration of the beauty, emotion, and energy that
can be found in the world around us, and I aim to translate that into an
abstract visual language that speaks to the viewer in a way that is both
personal and universal."
